A target anomaly scan (also called a TIFFA scan or Level 2 ultrasound) is a detailed prenatal ultrasound done between 18 and 22 weeks of pregnancy to check the baby’s physical development and rule out structural abnormalities.
What it Checks:
- Organs & Structure:Detailed look at the brain, spine, heart, face, kidneys, and limbs.
- Growth: Measurements of the head, belly, and leg bones to ensure proper development.
- Support System: Position of the placenta, amniotic fluid levels, and umbilical cord blood flow.
Its primary goal is to confirm the baby is growing normally and to help doctors plan specialized medical care before or after birth if any issues are found.
